Two veteran Real Madrid players are in negotiations to find new clubs ahead of the forthcoming season.
Both Raul and Guti, with 33-years combined service to Real’s first team and names synonymous with the club, have left the Bernabeu and are in search of a new challenge.
Former Spain striker Raul had clocked up 18 seasons with Madrid since making his debut against Real Zaragoza in October 1994 at the age of 17.
Now 33, he was expected to join German side Schalke on a two year deal but denied any deal had been finalised.
“I had very deep discussions with Schalke but there are others teams also interested” said Raul. “My future lies in Germany or England”.
Midfielder Guti has also left following 15 seasons with the club but actually joined Madrid’s youth team in 1985, stretching his allegiance to the side for a remarkable 25 years.
“I am leaving with the knowledge that the Real Madrid family loves me and that’s very important,” said Guti.
“It wasn’t an easy decision. But I have a good offer from Besiktas, an interesting one, now we’ll see.”
Should Guti join Besiktas he will link up with former Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster.
Raul played 741 matches for Real, scoring 323 goals and struck 44 times in 102 appearances for Spain.
Guti made 542 appearances, scoring 86 goals and won 14 caps for Spain, scoring three goals.
